Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2021 im Fachbereich Gesundheitswissenschaften - Gesundheitspsychologie, Note: 1,0, SRH Fernhochschule, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: The Covid-19-Pandemic has changed everyday life. There is significant increase in the average usage of media in every class of age. The use of media in childhood is known to cause psychological, social as well as physical harm. Consequently, this study investigates whether children's health related quality of life may be deteriorated in connection to the rise of media usage during the Covid-19-Pandemic. The aim of the study is to analyze the mechanisms of action within health related quality of life, the usage of media and the connection of nature during the Covid-19-Pandemic. Furthermore, this study investigates the psychological strains during the pandemic. The data was collected from primary school fourth graders. A mixed-methods-approach was chosen as a study design. The design consists of a quantitative study and a parallel qualitative study. The quantitative data was collected by the German version of the KIDSCREEN Questionnaires, the KIDSCREEN-10 Index; the Inclusion of Nature in Self Scale; and two scales to measure the usage of media before and during the Covid-19-Pandemic. To collect qualitative data a semi-structured, problem-centered interview was carried out. The quantitative analysis of the mechanisms of action within health related quality of life, usage of media during the pandemic and connection to nature did not reveal significant results. However, the usage of media during the pandemic is significantly higher than before the pandemic. Furthermore, heath related quality of life and connection to nature are both high. The qualitative data analysis reveals multiple psychological strains during the pandemic in regard to the Covid-19 regulations. By the qualitative part of this study the need for action in regard to children's psychological, social and physical health is pointed out.
